Film City Glasgow

The brainchild of Sigma Films’ Gillian Berrie, Film City Glasgow was developed with support from Glasgow City Council, Scottish Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund. Today it offers over 5,000 square feet of build/studio space and 12,000 square feet of production office space available for short-term occupation.

Recent productions include Valhalla Rising, Hallam Foe, Outpost, Red Road, Eagle of the Ninth, Neds, Legacy, The Last Word, Stone of Destiny, Doomsday, T4 Transmission, Ed & Oucho’s Excellent Inventions, and National Theatre of Scotland rehearsals.

The former Govan Town Hall building is also home to two of the UK’s leading post-production facilities, Serious Facilities (picture post) which boasts Scotland's only Baselight Telecine System, and Savalas (audio post) which has the world’s third accredited Dolby Premier studio.

Tenants come from across the screen disciplines, encompassing film production, factual TV, casting, and facilities, and include Hopscotch Films (Brian Cox’s Jute Journey, Little Red Hoodie), Keo Films (River Cottage, 3 Hungry Boys), Finestripe Productions (Shrink Rap, The Week We Went to War), animation and graphics specialists Inlightin and Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand.

“The low cost rental model we’re working to allows us to offer affordable accommodation to those emerging in the industry, and the invaluable opportunity to work and collaborate alongside established industry professionals.”

Tiernan Kelly, Operations Manager, Film City Glasgow

“Finding the right home for our new Scottish production base was a priority for us and Film City Glasgow ticked lots of boxes. It’s a magnificent old building in a fantastic riverside location slap bang in the heart of Scotland’s vibrant screen industries quarter.”

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Keo Films

“A building like this is an inspiration.”

Alex Kapranos, lead singer, Franz Ferdinand
